Reach Out and Read Iowa, an organization that seeks to promote early literacy by providing free books to children birth-five years old at their well-child visits, has a site right here in Guthrie Center/Stuart that sees approximately 500 kids in that age range each year – and they need books! Reach Out and Read Virtual Book Drive, running November 15-January 15th, where every $3 donated enables us to get a book into the hands of a child birth-five years old in the state of Iowa.
