Medicaid Program Continuous Coverage Ends April 1, 2023

(March 22, 2023) GUTHRIE CENTER, IA – With the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 being signed by President Biden on December 29, 2022, it means the end of Medicaid program’s continuous coverage requirement as of April 1, 2023.

What that means for most Medicaid members is that they will go through a process to determine if they are still able to be included in any Medicaid program(s). If members do not respond to renewal communication by letters or other requests for information, this may lead them to lose their Medicaid coverage.

What are the next steps? It is very important that Iowa Medicaid members do the following:

  • Have up-to-date contact information.
  • Watch for mail from Iowa Medicaid.
  • Respond to requests for information.

Again, if members do not respond to renewal letters or requests for information, they may lose coverage.
