Dennis Flanery

Guthrie County Hospital Foundation recently welcomed Dennis Flanery as its new Foundation Director.

Flanery brings years of experience in business development and community service to the Foundation. A Guthrie County native, Flanery spent the last 28 years as Market President of Peoples Bank in Guthrie Center. He is the current President of the Guthrie Center Development Group and an active board member of Main Street Guthrie Center, Timber Creek Charities, Guthrie Activity Center, Lake Panorama Association and St. Mary’s Church.

Flanery served as a Guthrie County Hospital Trustee from 1997 to 2002. In 2003, he joined the Guthrie County Hospital Foundation Board, serving as Treasurer and President. During that time, Flanery assisted with grant writing and numerous fundraising events for the hospital.

“The Guthrie County Hospital has always had a very special place in my heart.”  Flanery said. “I was born at this hospital and have utilized its services many times over the years. The services the hospital provides are extremely important to the residents of Guthrie County. I look forward to assisting the Foundation Board in their effort to ensure the hospital can continue to provide outstanding medical service in the future.”

Flanery obtained his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in Finance and then completed the Graduate School of Banking Program in Colorado. He and his wife, Diane, have three grown children. Diane grew up on a farm near Bagley and is the Elementary Principal in Guthrie Center. Children, Ryan, Erin, and Sean all live and work in the Des Moines area. As an avid Cyclone fan, he enjoys attending Iowa State football and basketball games. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family at the lake or their family farm where they have a small cow/calf operation.
