Alert: Beware of telephone and email scam campaigns claiming to be Guthrie County Hospital & Clinics
Guthrie County Hospital & Clinics patients have recently reported scam phone calls/text messages requesting patients to confirm their personal information or pay a bill.
While Guthrie County Hospital & Clinics does reach out to patients over the phone, we want you to be aware of the signs of what may be a scam call/text message. If you receive a call from someone at Guthrie County Hospital & Clinics, we will never ask you to release personal information. We will never ask for payment information through a text message.
In the interest of protecting patient privacy, we want to provide the following reminders for “phishing” scams.
These scams, designed to capture personal information (known as “phishing”) are designed to appear as if they are from Guthrie County Hospital & Clinics. They might even fake their caller ID (this is called “spoofing”) to make the call seem legitimate.
If you get an email from someone that claims to be from Guthrie County Hospital & Clinics requesting personal information:
- DO NOT click on any links in email
- DO NOT reply to the email or reach out to the senders in any way
- DO NOT supply any information on the website that may open, if you have clicked on a link in an email
- DO NOT open any attachments that arrive with the email
If you get a phone call or text message from someone that claims to be from Guthrie County Hospital & Clinics requesting personal information or payment information:
- DO NOT provide your name, telephone number or email address to the caller
- DO NOT provide your social security number, Medicare number or any other identification numbers
- DO NOT click on any links in the text message regarding sending payment
This type of outreach is from scam artists who are trying to trick consumers into sharing personal data.
