Alert: Beware of telephone and email scam campaigns claiming to be Guthrie County Hospital & Clinics

Guthrie County Hospital & Clinics patients have recently reported scam phone calls requesting patients to confirm their personal information.

While Guthrie County Hospital & Clinics does reach out to patients over the phone, we want you to be aware of the signs of what may be a scam call. If you receive a call from someone at Guthrie County Hospital & Clinics, we will never ask you to release personal information.

In the interest of protecting patient privacy, we want to provide the following reminders for “phishing” scams.

These scams, designed to capture personal information (known as “phishing”) are designed to appear as if they are from Guthrie County Hospital & Clinics. They might even fake their caller ID (this is called “spoofing”) to make the call seem legitimate.

If you get an email from someone that claims to be from Guthrie County Hospital & Clinics requesting personal information:

  • DO NOT click on any links in email
  • DO NOT reply to the email or reach out to the senders in any way
  • DO NOT supply any information on the website that may open, if you have clicked on a link in an email
  • DO NOT open any attachments that arrive with the email

If you get a phone call from someone that claims to be from Guthrie County Hospital & Clinics requesting personal information:

  • DO NOT provide your name, telephone number or email address to the caller
  • DO NOT provide your social security number, Medicare number or any other identification numbers
  • DO NOT release any private health information (examples: your current medications, chronic health conditions, etc.)

This type of outreach is from scam artists who are trying to trick consumers into sharing personal data.
