Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation is a supervised and monitored out-patient program that begins a few days after discharge from the hospital. (A physician referral is required.)
You may qualify for cardiac rehabilitation if you have recently experienced:
- Heart attack
- Coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG)
- Valve surgery
- Balloon angioplasty/coronary stenting
- Heart transplant
- Possible other diagnoses
During Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation participants are monitored by ECG, blood pressure, and close supervision by a registered nurse. It is designed to provide education guidelines to help heart patients safely increase their physical fitness and return to a healthy and active lifestyle.

Participants attend exercise and education classes three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The program typically runs 18 to 36 sessions. Each person’s rehab program is determined individually based on physical condition and personal goals. Your health care team will develop a plan with you and your family to assist you in making changes to decrease your risk for future events.
The cardiac rehab staff is dedicated to providing expert care through personal attention, counseling and education. Guthrie County Hospital Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation utilizes a team approach to healthcare. During cardiac rehabilitation participants will also meet with a Medical Nutrition Therapist , Pharmacist, and Social Services.

The cost of Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation varies with the length of participation. Each person’s rehab program is determined individually based on physical condition and personal goals.
